Renewal of Suomitalo strengthens the appeal of Helsinki city centre

Suomitalo, located in the heart of Helsinki, is entering a new phase. The prestigious property, which is over a century old, will be modernized to meet the demands of contemporary working life while carefully preserving the building’s cultural and historical value.

The renovation of the approximately 7,000-square-meter Suomitalo, situated at the corner of Lönnrotinkatu and Yrjönkatu, will commence following a new lease agreement with anchor tenant Accenture. The goal is to create modern and flexible office spaces within the building. The renewal is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2027.

Location and quality drive office space decisions

The Suomitalo project reflects the current demand trends in the office property market.

“Our office spaces are a strategic investment for us. We need an environment that supports both demanding expert work and seamless collaboration with clients and colleagues. The city centre location enhances this entire package and makes coming to the office a natural part of daily life,” says Susanna Takkunen, Managing Director of Accenture Finland.

Historical Value to Be Preserved

The renovations will be carried out in cooperation with the Finnish Heritage Agency (Museovirasto) to ensure that the building’s architectural and cultural-historical identity is preserved for future generations. At the same time, the property’s cultural role will continue uninterrupted, as Galerie Forsblom will remain operational in its premises throughout the renovation.

Suomitalo is owned by a fund managed by the German asset management company DWS. The owner’s long-term investments and modernization efforts are part of the property’s purposeful development. The Suomitalo project demonstrates that valuable historical buildings can continue to offer highly competitive solutions well into the future.
